Alistair is a PhD researcher at The Open University, undertaking their doctoral studies in collaboration with the Cambridge Centre for Proteomics under the supervision of Professor Kathryn Lilley. Their research focuses on mass spectrometry-based spatial proteomics, with the aim of gaining deeper insight into mammalian host systems used for the expression of protein therapeutics.
In parallel with their academic research, Alistair is a Senior Scientist within Biopharmaceuticals R&D at AstraZeneca, where they focus on protein characterisation using mass spectrometry, analytical method development, and the use of proteomics to better understand biomanufacturing processes. With over a decade of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, they have deep expertise in chromatography, electrophoresis, and mass spectrometry, as well as protein purification in development-stage processes.
Alistair holds a BSc in Forensic Science from Anglia Ruskin University and brings a unique combination of academic and industrial expertise to their research and occasional contributions to university teaching and engagement activities.
