PhD Student, Department of Computer Science and Technology

Biography

I am a dedicated Ph.D student driven by the desire to make a positive impact on the teaching and learning of AI within K-12 educational settings. My educational journey began with a bachelor's degree in economics and mathematics from the University of Ghana, followed by a master's degree in mathematical sciences from the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences. Subsequently, I relocated to Germany, where I served as a research associate at Leuphana University under the mentorship of Professor Burkhardt Funk. In this role, I co-organized the DATAx project, which aimed to introduce first-year students to Data Analysis using Python. My overarching objective is to actively contribute to the advancement of research in computing education.

Research

My PhD project focuses on investigating and enhancing strategies to improve the instruction of artificial intelligence (AI) within K-12 educational environments. This investigation encompasses an in-depth understanding of educators' motivation and readiness to impart AI education in schools, and aims to devise an intervention to enhance their preparedness for teaching AI. Dr. Sue Sentance, the director of the Raspberry Pi Computing Education Research Center, supervises and guides this project.
