DescriptionThe Unix shell (command line) is a powerful and essential tool for modern researchers, especially in computational fields such as bioinformatics and large-scale data analysis. In this course, you will:
- Explore the basic structure of the Unix operating system
- Learn how to interact with it using a core set of commands
- Practise navigating the filesystem
- Work with text-based data
- Combine commands to quickly extract information from large data files
- Everyone is welcome to attend the courses.
- No previous experience required
Fees must be paid at registration.
Free for registered University of Cambridge students
£ 65/full day for all University of Cambridge staff, including postdocs.
£ 65/full day for all academic participants from external Institutions and charitable organizations.
£ 130/full day for all Industry participants.
