Research Informatics Training

 

Jacqueline is a PhD student at the Wellcome Sanger Institute and the University of Cambridge. Before starting her doctoral studies, she worked as a bioinformatician for a year in Dr. David Adams' Experimental Cancer Genetics group at the Wellcome Sanger Institute. Jacqueline obtained a BSc degree in Molecular Sciences from the University of São Paulo (USP) and carried out undergraduate-level research in the Laboratory of Neurobiology and Stem Cells of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences of USP, under the supervision of Dr. Marilene H. Lopes. As the Sanger Prize 2021 winner, Jacqueline worked as a visiting researcher for 3 months in Dr. Sarah Teichmann's lab. After obtaining her bachelor’s degree, Jacqueline worked as a bioinformatician in Dr. David Adams’ group for a year before pursuing her doctoral degree.

    • I was an undergraduate student in the 4-year Molecular Sciences programme of the University of São Paulo (USP). This programme focuses on training researchers with an interdisciplinary background, being divided into two cycles: the basic cycle (years 1 and 2) covers a range of subjects on biology, chemistry, mathematics, physics, and computer science; and the advanced cycle (years 3 and 4) consists of intensive scientific training and research internships along with a flexible schedule comprising courses related to the student's research interests.
